Department of of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy was started in the year 1970. The department is involved in patient care, teaching and research. It is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The department routinely carries out dermatologic and cosmetic procedures. With latest dermatological equipment, the department faculty aim in bringing excellence in the patient care.

The department is well-equipped with new modern devices for cosmetic procedures. UVA & UVB Phototherapy chambers are used for treating vitiligo, psoriasis, allergic dermatitis and certain malignancies. Targeted phototherapy, iontophoresis, dermatoscope and facilities for patch and prick testing are also available. Electrocautery and cryotherapy facilities are available for treating warts and other benign conditions. Chemical peel treatment is available for treating certain types of acne, pigmentation and for the skin glow. The department also has an exclusive skin LASER centre with facilities for hair removal, scar treatment, tattoo removal, pigment removal etc., with the latest LASER technologies.

Department also has a well-equipped laboratory for supporting the clinical care. Speciality clinics like Vitiligo clinic, Psoriasis clinic, Contact dermatitis clinic, Pigmentary clinic, Leprosy clinic, STD clinic and Vesiculobullous clinic are functional in the hospital on specified days. Dermato surgeries like PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) injection, split thickness grafting, Punch grafting, acne surgery are undertaken in the department.

The Department conducts numerous academic programmes like conferences, CMEs, workshops. Past alumni are often invited to give exclusive talks and hands on workshops. The students are often encouraged to conduct research in all fields of dermatology.
